In mild cases it can lead to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enlargement of the ovaries.<\/li>\n<li>Appearance of fluid, swelling, and mild pain in the abdomen.<\/li>\n<li>Nausea or diarrhea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In moderate or severe cases, other important complications may appear that may require hospital admission.<\/p>\n<h3>What causes OHSS?<\/h3>\n<p>Today we know that OHSS is produced as a consequence of the release of a series of vasoactive substances, at the level of the follicles after the administration of the hormone Chorionic Gonadotropin, the most important the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The vasoactive substances that are released induce the leakage of fluid and proteins from the intravascular space to the extravascular space, inducing hypotension, oliguria, presence of fluid in the
