Complex fertility cases
When achieving pregnancy requires us to look further
Some fertility cases require a more in-depth approach than conventional fertility treatment. If previous attempts have been unsuccessful or there is a condition that requires further investigation, we assess your individual case to define a personalised treatment strategy.

What do we consider a complex fertility case?
Not every fertility situation is considered complex. At our clinic, we use this term when there are factors that make diagnosis or treatment more challenging, or when previous treatments have not achieved the expected outcome.
This may include cases requiring a more specialised reproductive medicine approach, such as recurrent miscarriage, implantation failure, uterine conditions, low ovarian reserve or complex male factor infertility, among other situations.
It can also apply when a patient has undergone several previous treatments without achieving pregnancy and it becomes necessary to reassess the case from a different perspective.
Every story is different. That’s why our approach is too.
Tell us briefly about your situation and our team will be able to advise you on the next step.
In complex fertility cases, the question is not always which treatment to choose, but rather what may be affecting the chances of pregnancy.
That is why, before deciding on the most appropriate approach, we review your medical history, previous treatments, tests and any other relevant factors.
Our aim is to understand your case as a whole and determine which options may be appropriate for you.
Por eso estudiamos la historia reproductiva, las pruebas realizadas, los tratamientos previos y la situación actual de cada paciente o pareja antes de plantear los siguientes pasos.
It’s not just about choosing a treatment
Situations we address in complex fertility cases
Each case requires an individual assessment
A personalised approach to complex cases
At Clínica Fertia, our reproductive medicine team specialises in complex fertility cases and works together to assess each situation from an individual perspective.
The assessment may involve different areas depending on the needs of each patient: reproductive medicine, gynaecology, uterine assessment, genetics, andrology and laboratory techniques, among others.
This comprehensive approach allows us to make decisions based on each patient’s medical history and circumstances, rather than following a standard treatment protocol.

Frequently asked questions about complex fertility cases
What is considered a complex fertility case?
A fertility case may be considered complex when there are factors that make diagnosis or treatment more challenging, when several conditions coexist or when previous fertility treatments have not achieved the expected outcome.
I have already undergone several fertility treatments without success. Should my case be reassessed?
It may be advisable. When several treatments have been unsuccessful, reviewing your medical history, previous cycles, test results and response to treatment can help identify factors that may require further investigation or a different approach.
What tests are carried out in a complex fertility assessment?
The tests required depend on each individual case. They may include assessment of ovarian reserve, uterine studies, genetic testing, hormonal tests, semen analysis or other specific investigations depending on your medical history and previous treatments.
Can I request a second opinion even if I already have a diagnosis?
Yes. A second medical opinion can be useful if you already have a diagnosis but would like another specialist team to review your case, particularly after previous unsuccessful treatments or when several factors are involved.
At what age can fertility treatment become more complex?
There is no single age at which a case automatically becomes complex. However, female age is an important factor in reproductive medicine because both ovarian reserve and egg quality change over time. An individual assessment is therefore essential.
Is it possible to achieve pregnancy after several unsuccessful treatments?
Previous unsuccessful treatments do not necessarily mean that pregnancy is no longer possible. The prognosis depends on many factors, including age, diagnosis, ovarian reserve, sperm quality, uterine factors and previous treatment history. A thorough assessment can help determine the available options in each case.
What happens if no clear explanation has been found for why previous treatments failed?
In these cases, reviewing all previous medical information can help determine whether further tests are appropriate or whether the treatment strategy should be reconsidered. Not every case will have a single identifiable cause, so the assessment needs to be individualised.
Can I have my complex fertility case assessed if I live outside Spain?
Yes. Clínica Fertia has an International Department that supports patients travelling from other countries. Part of the initial assessment and organisation of the treatment can be coordinated remotely, depending on the individual case.
Have you undergone several fertility treatments without achieving pregnancy?
If you feel that you need a more in-depth assessment of your case, you can tell us about your medical history and previous treatments.
Our team will review your situation to help determine the most appropriate next step.
What our patients say about Clínica Fertia

Dr Puente and Candela were brilliant. Very good value in comparison to fertility treatments in Ireland. We spent 10 days in Fuengirola and had the treatment at the end of our time there. Flew home two days later and very luckily became pregnant. There is follow up support when you get home. My son is now two and Clinica Fertia is the only reason he is here 💙Publicado en Google Igor Tanenzapf29/07/2026Trustindex verifica que la fuente original de la reseña sea Google. 100% recommend. We were treated so well, the team are so positive, supportive, friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. The clinic use advanced methods and treat on a one to one basis. After failures in the UK, the clinic did new tests and we now have a 4 month old daughter! Thank you so much Clinica fertia for changing our lives!
